Martyna completed her training as a Tax Specialist at JAKUS in an accelerated period of 2.5 years and successfully graduated in 2026 with excellent results. Even during her training, she distinguished herself through a high level of personal responsibility and strong commitment, quickly becoming involved in key areas of work.
She rapidly took on the independent management of payroll clients, actively contributed to the digitalization of our payroll processes, and continues to play a key role in shaping the payroll section of our help center.
Following the successful completion of her training, Martyna remained part of our team and now contributes her expertise and practical experience to the day-to-day support of our clients. In this interview, she talks about her training journey, her personal development, and her transition into independent client work at JAKUS.
What was your start at JAKUS like during the first weeks of your training?
My start to the Tax Specialist apprenticeship at JAKUS was well structured. All trainees begin in the administrative support team to get familiar with our processes, software, and clients. This provides a solid understanding of how a tax consultancy operates, how deadlines are managed, and how communication with clients works. Only afterwards do you gradually take on more technical responsibilities step by step.
What makes my team special? We support each other, share our knowledge, and work together even during busy periods. Open communication helps us find solutions as a team, and of course, a good sense of humor is never missing.
What responsibilities do you have in your day-to-day training now, and how do you notice your development?
My daily work has become very diverse. I work in payroll accounting, financial accounting, prepare tax returns, and assist with the preparation of annual financial statements.
The clearest sign of my development is that I now understand the connections between different tasks and processes. In the beginning, I completed tasks by following instructions. Today, I work much more independently, think proactively, and manage my own client assignments. It is a great feeling because I can clearly see how much I have learned.
What level of responsibility were you gradually able to take on in payroll during your training?
At the beginning, I was responsible for preparatory tasks. Over time, I was entrusted with managing my own payroll clients, always with an experienced colleague available for support when needed.
Today, I independently prepare payrolls, review special situations such as one-time payments or changes in employment relationships, and serve as a direct contact person for clients in their day-to-day payroll matters. The gradual transfer of responsibility has given me a great deal of confidence.
How is professional collaboration organized within the payroll department, and what role do you play?
I manage my payroll clients independently and, for more complex matters, I can coordinate directly with Marion, who is responsible for the professional leadership of the payroll department.
This gives me confidence in my daily work and ensures that high-quality standards are maintained at all times, even in special cases.
What helped you become more confident professionally?
Three things helped me the most:
Practical experience from day one, patient guidance from experienced colleagues, and the trust placed in me to take ownership of my own responsibilities.
In payroll accounting especially, repetition is a powerful learning tool. With every payroll processed, you become more confident, particularly when you understand the reasons behind what you are doing.
What was more challenging at the beginning than you expected, and what has become easier today?
At the beginning, it was challenging to keep track of the many legal regulations in tax and social security law. I also had to learn how the different areas of responsibility are connected.
Today, I can much more quickly recognize how bookkeeping, payroll accounting, and tax returns are interconnected. Through daily practice, I now work in a far more structured and confident way than when I first started.
In what ways did the firm support you during your training?
I always had dedicated contacts in every department and received regular feedback. I was also supported in preparing for my final examinations. What was especially important to me was being able to take on responsibility early and actively contribute instead of simply observing.
Who do you think is particularly well suited for an apprenticeship at JAKUS?
The apprenticeship is a great fit for people who enjoy working in a structured way, have an interest in numbers, and are curious about business and financial processes.
Anyone who wants to take responsibility and is willing to immerse themselves in complex topics will have the opportunity to develop professionally and build strong expertise here.
What was a moment during your training that made you particularly proud?
I am especially proud that I am now trusted to work independently in many areas and take responsibility for my own assignments.
Seeing how much responsibility I was able to handle shortly before my final examination showed me just how much I had grown and developed throughout my training.
